Do Bipolars wear a lot of masks?

Do bipolar sufferers tend to hide their feelings a lot? I had a friend at work and she was as nice as pie at work, the friendliest and smiliest person there but most people at work said this was just a mask and not really what she was like. I now feel foolish for falling in love with her as I'm not even sure that person even existed! Does this sound stupid?Do Bipolars wear a lot of masks?

It's not just bipolar people doing that. But you wanna know something about people like her? She might have a really good heart and mean well most of the time. If you don't like her now coz you've heard she's not as perfectly sweet as you thought, then I guess you were looking for a god.
Sometimes we all have masks and it depends on the person who is looking. We may be friendly with one person and nervous and closed up around another. You stated you like this person and I think what others say has prejudiced you. Trust your gut instincts. Could be you will see what they see. Could be you see the real person that they do not see.
I don't know that your coworkers truely understand bi-polar. If this girl is truely bi-polar her friendly smiley personality may be part of her true self, however, the nature of bi-polar is extreme mood swings. She can be seemingly high one moment, go days without sleep, many bi-polars will spend tons of money in their manic phase and then crash, she could become extremely depressed, or angry or violent.





It isn't nec. a mask, the idea of bi-polar is that your moods and feelings swing between the two extremes.
All people wear masks. Especially when you first meet someone. In a way, I'm sure even you wear a mask. I'm sure you don't put yourself out there 100% from the beginning of getting to know someone. It takes time. Sounds like this person may need you as a friend or as more if the people she's working with are talking about her like this behind her back. She probably needs a good person to talk to who will take time to get to know the REAL person inside. Your question isn't stupid, but you shouldn't be so easily coaxed by other people. You make up your mind on your own. You can use what they have to say in order to go into this with eyes wide open but other than that don't let them make up your mind.
