can i add a few drops of Tea Tree oil to honey and egg white and lemon. will it cause a reaction that renders the mask useless?

thanks!Questions about natural home acne mask ingredients?
No you need to use salicylic acid which has the ability to penetrate pores and exfoliate inside the pore instead of layering crap on top of the skin forcing debris deeper into the pore. Use a benzoyl peroxide product to reduce the number of bacteria on the skin and in the pore thriving on the oil and dead skin cells.

And you need to find out about the ingredients in the ';recipe'; of the salicylic acid/benzoyl peroxide products you buy to fight acne, to make sure they don't contain potential skin irritants (like lemon and vinegar) -- because if they irritate your skin, you'll have to stop using them and then you'll be right back where you started. Tea tree oil is effective against bacteria, but nothing like benzoyl peroxide is. Honey has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties meaning it can improve the overall condition of the skin and reduce redness. The clay mask mentioned below can't do any ';deep cleansing';. It is made of beeswax and Fuller's earth (basically a salt). It can absorb excess oil and that's it. The salt may be abrasive enough to exfoliate skin, but it can't do that just resting on the skin. The beeswax serves only as a thickening agent.

I guess this went right over your head, but most of the ingredients you want to use are not effective against acne -- and most of them are potential skin irritants. About the worst thing you can do to acne-prone skin is irritate it. No, you can't use apple vinegar unless you can test for pH. And Report Abuse

egg whites (the proper name is albumen) are not helpful for skin and in fact it can irritate skin. Lemon can irritate skin. Next time you have a scratch or cut on your finger, put some lemon on it and you'll see. The only things you named that can possibly IMPROVE ACNE are tea tree oil and honey. Report Abuse

And yes, I have a good recipe for acne clearing: Go to the pharmacy or discount store and buy a salicylic acid/benzoyl peroxide product(s) made for fighting acne. The idea that only ';natural'; ingredients are good for your skin is not reality, it's idealism and it's the harmful kind of idealism. Report Abuse

As a matter of fact, there is a great home made mask that I have been using for some time! It really works great. It should clear up your face very quickly! The ingredients are easy to get. One of the ingredients is called fuller's earth. You might have to order it, or you could find it at a specialty store. Please check out this article on how to make two simple masks from this idea.
