If I understand you correctly, probably the best way is to include sufficient environment in the form of water, air, plants and animals that it would be self sustaining in the same way it is here on earth.How can a house can be set in space without using gas masks by it's occupants?

The house would have to be air tight. Perhaps surround it with a big balloon.
